July 25, 2009-Just Hatched

Due on August 22......The week beginning July 19 we felt this rush to get things done. We had just finished with the baby showers and we were sorting through the clothes. I had made a pile to take to the hospital that I had planned to wash that weekend. My husband was able to get the cradle together and the carseats secured in each car. Our to do list was long but day by day we were shrinking those items down.

That Wednesday we went to my last bi-weekly doctors appointment and the most amazing thing happened. T had never SEEN the baby move, but on that day in the waiting room he happened to look at my belly as the baby made a complete shift from left to right. He says to me "That was you breathing. Right?" No! He began to play with him and "knock" on my belly. Well the baby started knocking back. It was great for him to have that experience.

On that doctors visit I was spilling protein. Well usually with that you have high blood pressure but I didn't. So the doctor said to come back in 48 hours and she would recheck me, maybe it was a fluke.

On July 24th I went to my doctors appointment alone. Without Hubby. It was that visit that my blood pressure was through the roof. I was swollen. I had pre-eclampsia. So it was off to the hospital RIGHT then for me.

I spent the night, bored stiff in the hospital hoping I could hold this baby in until August 1st. Little did I know that this was just the beginning.

The next morning I began having contractions. The nurses came in to hook me up and monitor them and discovered the baby having a "Lake" --a dip in the heartbeat. I was rushed to labor and delivery. One way or another this baby will be coming. The doctor said if the heartbeat dips again she would do a caesarean.

At 1PM the heartbeat dipped again and at 1:09 the doctor delivered a beautiful baby boy.
