In the Army....this ones for my Daddy!

Since my Dad was in the Army and not Navy I have to give Preston props for his superior army crawl...he's really taking off....
In the navy ARMY
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy ARMY
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy ARMY
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the navy ARMY, in the navy ARMY
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy ARMY
Come on, protect the motherland
In the navy ARMY
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy ARMY
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy ARMY (in the navy ARMY)

Reflecting on August 28th

This photo is from  August 28, 1965.  The day my Mother-in-law Bettye and my late Father-in-law George were married.  It's been almost 10 years since George passed away.  But the thing I've learned most about his life is to cherish every day you have and try to keep focus on the important things in life, those that you love!  I doubt when you get to Heaven you say "I should have worked more". This man worked so hard for his family.  He was a small business owner and he put his family before himself and that lead him to become sick 9 years before he passed away. At least now I know he's no longer sick and no longer worrying if he's making the right choices for his family.  You did a good job George!

It was August 28, 1982. That's the day my friend Anne was born-30 years ago today!  Sometimes you don't know when you meet an Angel on earth, something you don't learn until after the fact.  That's what happened with me.  Now that I look back and see all the photos of her, you can just see her angel glow.  Something I never noticed when I walked by her desk.  Rest in Peace Anne.  I was lucky to know you.

Milestones

Ok so recently we've hit 2 milestones....About August 1st Preston began to sit up....
It took about a full week for him to really sit up and stay put.  He still falls over some but he's getting his balance and really enjoys his new view of the world.  Although he still can't get into a sitting position he is moving a lot.  We lay him down in one spot and before we know it he has rolled himself to the other side of the room.

And last night Blake hit a milestone.  Blake has always been a really good sleeper.  He would go to bed without any trouble.  In fact if it wasn't for that trait the night Preston was born might have been harder.  I placed him in his crib around 9PM on New Years Eve and then when my water broke about 10 he was sound asleep when family came to be with him while we went to have a baby.  Blake never woke up during the night, so the next morning he wakes up to find Mommy and Daddy gone and that his baby brother is here.

So in January at 2 1/2 he still slept in a crib...then in March he got his big boy bed.  He slept pretty good in that for a month to six weeks.  Then in May he developed the "There's Monsters in My Room"  so about 1AM every night he started to come to our bed and sleep.  Between Blake wiggling up a storm and Preston waking every few hours I've had enough.  So last night we worked on letting Blake know he is not allowed to come to our bed in the middle of the night.  He got up and cried about 3 times...but he slept there all night. And when he woke up he said "I slept in my bed all night!"  We are all so proud of him!!!!

To recreate Sleeping in his bed ALL Night, he had to pose with Barney my 3ft bear...And behind him is his "Monster Spray"

Preston sitting up, trying to play with the Big Yellow truck!
I'm so proud of these two precious boys!
